Introducing Our New Guiding Mission: Sport Ready by 5

As we head into a new academic year, we’ve been asking ourselves a simple question: What are we really here to help children become? The answer is now defining everything we do.

Our Mission: Sport Ready By 5

We are excited to introduce Minisport’s new guiding mission: to help children become Sport Ready by 5. This isn’t a slogan. It’s a clear, measurable intention for the early years: by the time your child reaches five, they should feel confident stepping into a wide range of sports environments — not because they’ve “Mastered” a sport, but because they’ve built the foundations to participate across multiple sports with confidence.

Our Three Pillars: Move Well, Play Well, Grow Well

A Clearer Focus for Bigger Impact: Why Our Programme Now Ends at Age 5

From Term 1 (Aug–Dec) 2026, Minisport will refine our programme age range from 1.5–6 years to 1.5–5 years. The early years are a uniquely powerful window for development. Children’s brains and bodies are rapidly building the “Wiring” for movement, coordination, and self-regulation. When coaching is truly age-appropriate, progress becomes more consistent — and children enjoy it more.

By sharpening our focus, we can design every part of the experience even more deliberately for toddlers and preschoolers: session structure, coaching language, attention spans and emotional regulation, equipment size and weight, and the pace at which sessions are run and skills are introduced. Most importantly, it helps us ensure children aren’t stretched across too wide an age bracket. They’re seen for where they are developmentally — and supported accordingly.

🎓 Official Graduation Sports Days — December And June

For our Explorer students, we’re introducing two annual Sport Ready Graduation Sports Days, held twice per year in December and June. Graduation isn’t about performance. It’s about recognising commitment, progress, and a child’s readiness to move into the next stage with confidence.

Graduation Eligibility (Draft Criteria)

A child will be eligible to graduate if they:

  1. Are five years old at the time of the start of the term preceding graduation ✅
  2. Are enrolled for the full term of classes leading up to the graduation event ✅
  3. Have attended at least 30 sessions across their full Minisport journey ✅

Graduation Certificates (Colour-Graded)

30–49 sessions: White Sport Ready Graduation Certificate

50–69 sessions: Green Sport Ready Graduation Certificate

70+ sessions: Orange Sport Ready Graduation Certificate

Camp days count as 1 session, regardless of camp length. These certificates will also include a summary of your child’s Minisport journey, such as total sessions by sport, character badges earned, and sports they’ve shown the most interest in. We want this to be a meaningful moment for families — a clear “Closing Chapter” that celebrates growth and sends children forward feeling capable.

More details of these events (including exact dates and locations) will be shared at the start of Term 1 (Aug–Dec).

Expanding Our Team — New Coaches And Assistants From The UK & Hong Kong

Over the last two terms, classes have hit capacity at record pace, and we know that left many families disappointed and/or on waitlists. To meet demand without compromising quality, we are onboarding and training more professional coaches both locally and from the United Kingdom ahead of the coming term.

This allows us to open more sessions and venues while protecting the standards that define Minisport — including coach-to-child ratios and the attentiveness required for early years.

New Age-Appropriate Equipment

We’ve continued to invest in a range of updated, age-appropriate equipment designed specifically for toddlers and preschoolers. During early childhood, the right equipment really does matter. When tools match a child’s size and stage, they can engage more deeply, build confidence faster, and learn correct movement patterns more safely.

This isn’t about gadgets. It’s about thoughtful resources that support the milestones that matter — and reflect our belief that the details are never “Small” when you’re working with young children.

Term 1 Schedule 👇

Students will still embark on their usual session covering the sport and activities at hand, but the games will be themed. There will be a range of resources that are accessible via the app, as well as handouts at classes to reinforce the learning of these topics.

🏖️ Free Beach Days For Term 1 Students

Following a series of successful events last academic year, we’re keeping things simple and leaning into what families enjoyed most. We'll be hosting free afternoon beach games at Repulse Bay for fully enrolled Term 1 (Aug–Dec) students on the below dates:

5th & 6th September

10th & 11th October

7th & 8th November

(FREE beach day for fully enrolled students in the afternoon (ages 3–5yrs), times TBC. requires enrolment in advance of the event)

Beach days are for 3–5-year-olds, but younger siblings are welcome to attend despite there not being an actual activity for them to take part in. Siblings are welcome, or parents with younger students who just wish to come down and mingle are also welcome.

We’ll provide drinks and snacks for parents to enjoy while children play — a relaxed, active way to connect as a community and enjoy the sunset.

Final details will be shared when Term 1 is released.

Term 1 Enrolment Dates (Aug–Dec 2026)

11 June: Priority window opens for Silver, Gold, and Platinum loyalty tier users

18 June: Enrolment opens for waitlisted parents and the general public

Looking Ahead: The Year Of Becoming Sport Ready By 5

When we look ahead to the new academic year, we don’t just see a busier calendar. We see children becoming more coordinated, more confident, and more willing to try. We see coaches delivering higher-quality sessions because systems, equipment, and structure support them. And we see parents feeling more informed, more connected, and more certain that their child is progressing.

That’s what our new approach is really about: building foundations in the years that matter most. Thank you for entrusting us with this vital chapter of your child’s development. Together, we’re building a community where every child can become Sport Ready by 5.
